Primary Section’s Inquiry Centre
The Primary Section's Inquiry Centre is located within the section, separated from the Middle/Senior Inquiry Centre. This is designed to meet the specific needs of the younger pupils in our school. Each week, it receives all classes, from Prekinder to Year 4, and the children take books home, encouraging a love for reading.
We have nearly 10,000 titles available, organized into 15 collections that pupils can access based on their level, requirements for each inquiry unit, or reading preferences.
Additionally, each week, inquiry activities are carried out for each level, coordinated with the learning objectives per unit, which include the use of technology, storytelling, and product creation.
- Users: Students from Prekinder to Year 4.
- Location: On the first floor of the Year 3 and Year 4 building. It is named after Joan Darling, in honor of one of the founders of Craighouse School.
Middle Section’s Inquiry Centre
The Middle Section Inquiry Centre offers pupils a space for inquiry, aligned with the MYP program, conducting research work, promoting reading culture, and providing book lending services.
Furthermore, its layout facilitates and invites the delivery of classes, academic, and cultural activities. It features open shelves that empower students to develop their autonomy in information retrieval and foster a love for reading.
- Users: Pupils from Year 5 to Year 8.
- Location: A few steps away from Reception and the Headmaster's Office. It shares its collection and physical space with the Senior Section and is named after Charles T. Darling in honor of one of the founders of Craighouse School.
Senior Section’s Inquiry Centre
The Senior Section Inquiry Centre is designed to meet the needs of high school students, with a focus on the IB Program (International Baccalaureate Diploma). It provides the necessary resources for pupils to fully develop their abilities, promoting inquiry, academic integrity, and a love for reading.
- Users: Pupils from Year 9 to Year 12.
- Location: A few steps away from Reception and the Headmaster's Office. It shares its physical space with the Middle Section and is named after Charles T. Darling in honor of one of the founders of Craighouse School.
The Middle and Senior sections share the General Collection, consisting of approximately 10,000 titles, including books from the Robin Darling Collection.
This collection is organised by areas of knowledge, allowing for an academic, orderly, and systematic inquiry process.
Additionally, each section has its own Language and English Reading Plan, which are physically separated on the shelves of Middle and Senior sections, respectively. This facilitates direct and quick access to the materials.
